The Nightmare Before Christmas

With Halloween already several weeks back in the rear view mirror, it would seem that "the powers that be" would like to keep the ghoul fest going by unleashing horror all over the upcoming holiday season...

"So real it's scary"

The FBI gets the ball rolling by suggesting that shopping malls are potential targets for "terrorists" during what? the next two months...? given that holiday shopping which used to start on the day after Thanksgiving has been moved ahead to more like the day after Halloween now...

Republican Presidential nobody, Tom Tancredo decides that shopping mall terrorism is worthy of a campaign ad, further instilling fear in the American people...

And then word out of the U.K. yesterday that the bird-flu has struck...what birds you ask? Well, Turkeys of course...and guess what? The "deadly" strain of the virus is being traced to the country of Turkey as well.

Turkey, the traditional feast fowl of our exclusive Thanksgiving meal (and if Ben Franklin had his way, the Turkey would have been our Nation's symbol instead of the Eagle)...sure, it's across the ocean but even the visual association is enough to make even the most ravenous (and likely over-weight) citizen think twice about consuming possible tainted bird.

Which bring us to dear old Santa Claus...whom the Chinese obviously wish to destroy. Those "Yellow" elves seem to be trying to date-rape our children with their toys of destruction. Those heathen communists...oh wait...they're making all the toys and profiting from their sales too...those heathen capitalists. [note: sorry to use the extreme here] Are we REALLY to believe all this nonsense? Is the world truly this far out of control or is this all under VERY strict control, and merely made to look like Chaos...Order out of Chaos...never forget that.

And with all the finger pointing going on within the "conspiracy" communities these days about fear-mongering, I think we all need to stop and take a look at who is (and has been) doing all the actual fear-mongering across the planet. The Grinch Who Stole Christmas is alive and well, and we are merely the Who's down in Whoville.

Given that I ended up being outed and splashed on the front pages of The Sunday Times for my work with Five on 'mall terrorism' I have very mixed feelings on this tack. One thing I know, when any community - including the eso/conspiracy community - promotes the pornography of despair, we all lose.

Beyond spoon-bending? Hmmm... Who might that be a reference to?

David...care to elaborate on your mixed feelings?

Uri Gellar...of course Ben.

My mixed feelings are because it is both real and false. I was involved in the stopping of genuine 'mall terror' plots and at the same time, the whole nature of all these possible plots - even if genuine - is false at so many levels I run out of working fingers and toes.

Thanks for clarifying David. That is well honest, and I hope that my disgust doesn't suggest to you or anyone that people don't die from this stuff or are directly (and horribly) effected.

The real/falseness of it all is often what I think makes most people apathetic to looking any closer at it.
