It would seem that on 9.9.9 everything old is new again, and "Space is the Place"...released today is the trailer for a remake of Ed Wood Jr.'s seminal space trash epic "Plan 9 from Outer Space". Although the film doesn't officially begin shooting until next year, director John Johnson presents his trailer to mark the 50th Anniversary. Oddly Plan 9 was released in July of 1959...making the remakes rushed and yet belated trailer debut of 9/9/09 quite interesting. There is actually one other Plan 9 remake in the works as well...[trailer linked below]

I won't be going into lengthy synchromystic ramblings about the numerous space/alien related news stories, and entertainment vehicles of the 3rd Kind that have been circulating prior to today's matching 9's...they are all worthy to note, and have been touched upon by other blogs prior to now. For a step back, I would be looking at the Japanese Anime', "Galaxy Express 999" & TV's "Space 1999".
A little taste from Space 1999's first episode according to wikipedia: "In the pilot, nuclear waste from Earth stored on the moon explodes in a catastrophic accident on September 13, 1999, knocking the moon out of its orbit and sending it and the 311 inhabitants of Moonbase Alpha hurtling uncontrollably into outer space."
I leave you with a blast from my past...999 doing "Emergency" [aka 911]
