Kings of Memphis

"When a man wants to murder a tiger, he calls it sport; when the tiger wants to murder him, he calls it ferocity. The distinction between crime and justice is no greater" - George Bernard Shaw

Memphis, Tennessee was home to Elvis the original "Tiger Man" [For more on Elvis read Ben Fairhall's excellent "E.P. Phone Home" article], and yesterday a stray dog jumped into the Big Cat exhibit at the Memphis Zoo to become the latest TIGER/Orange synchronicity since Christmas. The "GOLDEN" retriever was attacked but rescued and is in good condition.

The University of Memphis TIGERS basketball (ORANGE) team are currently ranked #2 in the Nation after winning last night at home in a blowout. The Tigers are a perfect 14-0.

Professional golfer Tiger Woods was also in the news today, as The Golf Channel anchor Kelly Tilghman was suspended for two weeks after comments she made in reference to TIGER over the weekend. In response to a comment from analyst (and former Golfer) Nick Faldo's suggestion that fellow golfer's would have to gang up on Tiger in an upcoming Tournament to beat him; Tilghman replied they need to take him (Woods) into an alley and lynch him.

Today, 16 year old Japanese golfer Ryo Ishikawa announced that he will turn pro. Known as the "bashful prince" in Japan, he quickly has been redubbed the "JAPANESE TIGER".

Elvis 1970 Mystery Train/Tiger Man

Elvis wore the Tiger jumpsuit, also known as the Mad Tiger, around 1973 or 1974. The Tiger and Dragon suits were two of the first to be made without capes. This white jumpsuit with a high collar sported an open V-neck, flared sleeves, and belled pant legs. The dominant design was a jumping tiger, which wrapped around the front of the suit from the bottom left to the top right. The suit was accented with tiger stripes down the sides of the legs and on the belt buckle. Though perhaps not as ostentatious at some of the other Presley jumpsuits, the Tiger is significant because it represents something personal about Elvis. One of Elvis’ hobbies was karate, his karate nickname was Tiger.

You might appreciate this quote, from The Evening Standard:

'Buoyed by polls that showed him surging into a double-digit lead over Hillary Clinton, the man being dubbed "the Tiger Woods of American politics"- and whose oratory evokes comparisons with Martin Luther King and JFK- zeroes in on undecided voters in the audience...'

Cheers,
Ben

WOW! Here are a few more tiger things I noticed leading up to the Bhutto assassination:

Another zoo tiger mauling death - in India on Dec. 20 - seems to have gone completely unnoticed in the U.S., though it happened at about the same time as the San Francisco zoo tiger death.

The Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N), Bhutto’s rival, has the election symbol of Tiger (Bhutto's party was symbolized by the arrow - and with her death, I can't help but think of "broken arrow").

Bhutto herself owned a stuffed Bengal tiger.

There is a so-called “golden tiger” named Bhutto that the Glasgow zoo sent to a German zoo when it closed.

Here’s a play about Bhutto’s father’s last days in office: "The Leopard and the Fox". The same playwright now is doing "The Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo."

One more thing about tigers, and that is there may be a Templar connection, as indicated by this very intriguing book:

"The Saint" - aka Simon Templar - meets the Tiger, someone who wants to smuggle stolen gold. Templar falls in love with Patricia Holm (Holmes - very familiar name).
